Overview

Aiota is a custom-built operational data platform designed to collect, unify, and present information from multiple business systems, IoT sources, and real-world workflows in one structured environment.

Since late 2023, mile.dev has been responsible for the architecture, development, and continuous evolution of the platform, working closely with the client in a long-term, highly iterative collaboration.

The challenge

Unifying fragmented operational data into one scalable platform

Aiota needed to solve a fundamentally complex problem: collecting and connecting data from very different systems, devices, and workflows, then presenting it in a way that was clear, actionable, and scalable.

This meant dealing with:

  • fragmented data across multiple external platforms
  • IoT devices and real-world operational inputs
  • highly varied customer use cases across industries
  • growing complexity as new integrations and features were added
  • the need for an architecture that could scale without constant restructuring
The goal was to create a centralized platform that could turn disconnected operational data into structured, usable insight.

What we built

Centralized platform for collecting and visualizing operational data
Integrations with external business systems, APIs, and IoT services
Tools for asset tracking, workflow support, and data capture
Real-time dashboards and operational overviews
Specialized web and mobile applications for focused workflows
AI-powered interaction with stored platform data

Architecture & delivery

Aiota was architected as a scalable backend-driven platform designed to support multiple applications, diverse integrations, and rapidly expanding product requirements.

The system was developed in close collaboration with a technically experienced founder, with each new feature positioned carefully so the platform could continue to grow without compromising structure, reliability, or performance.

Backend architecture designed for long-term scalability
Multiple web and mobile applications connected to a central platform
Integrations across IoT, business software, and external APIs
Azure-based infrastructure supporting diverse workloads and services
Multiple databases and services selected based on specific feature needs
Ongoing product evolution with AI-assisted capabilities and data interaction

Outcome

Aiota is now a growing operational platform used by dozens of organizations and thousands of users, helping businesses connect data, improve visibility, and support real-world workflows through a single system.

The platform continues to evolve through ongoing development, new integrations, and expanding feature sets across multiple operational domains.

This is a long-term partnership, with continuous architectural development, product expansion, and platform scaling.
